About

I titled my blog “Positive Kids” because my focus will be about how to raise children who respect themselves and others, care for themselves and others, take responsibility for their actions and know how to respond to their mistakes in a self-nurturing and productive manner. It is also important that youth genuinely care about their planet, the politics that impact their lives, and have a strong understanding the consequences of their actions good and bad. Of course, this is not an exhaustive list and more goals will be addressed in future posts.

Positive Kids examines ways to raise thriving children who are self-assured without being overly self-focused, secure, feel loved and have a sense of belonging, and who care for others with a sense of empathy that enables them to understand others’ situations and plights and to share their joys.

I have worked as a teacher for over 30 years in the areas of special education, reading specialization, computer science grades 6-8, 6th grade language arts, literature, and math, and 5th grade. My children are 32 and 29 and not too messed up. LOL My college degrees include a B.S. in elementary education grades 1-8 and special education K-12, M.S. in reading specialization K-12, and an M.A. in Human Development and Family studies with a concentration on remediation of bullying and positive youth development. My mom loves me. 😉
